A bidirectional single sideband gigabit WDM-RoF system using reflective SOA

Abstract

We proposed a new bidirectional gigabit wavelength division multiplexed-radio on fiber (WDM-RoF) system which shares the same wavelength. Central station for downlink transmits the 30GHz single sideband wireless signal which is modulated 1.25Gb/s by use of a mach-zehnder modulator and a fiber bragg grating. Base station for uplink transmits 1.25Gb/s wireless signal using a reflective semiconductor optical amplifier. We achieved a BER<10-9 of downlink at -14.0SdBm and uplink at -18.9dBm after 20km transmission.
