Abstract

Background knowledge plays an essential role in knowledge discovery in database (KDD) process. Concept hierarchy is one of the most popular one due to its simplicity and usefulness particularly for generalization. It can be built from domain experts or extracted database schema and database snapshot. To build accurate concept hierarchy, a concept hierarchy framework is proposed, considering schema information, database snapshot, and user preference. Using the framework we can construct concept hierarchies, which reflect all possible information extracted from the database.
