N2 - In this paper, we present an analysis of various multicast schemes over IEEE 802.11 Multi-hop. Analyzing performance of wireless multicasting communication is important because multicast communication is gaining more and more attention in wireless networks with numerous potential applications. The network coding has recently drawn people's attention and has proven to have benefits when it is applied to multicasting. Multi-hop wireless communication has been extensively investigated as a candidate of next generation wireless communication. When the network coding is used in multi-hop wireless network, we can expect network throughput to be enhanced. Because network coding is in theoretical stage, its performance in existing wireless communication system is not yet fully investigated. We used IEEE 802.11 MAC to apply various multicasting schemes including network coding and presented their performance.
