N2 - We propose a new velocity estimation scheme for cellular communication systems that utilizes the azimuth spread (AS), delay spread (DS) and shadow fading of a mobile station (MS). Since the AS, DS and shadow fading are spatially correlated, the variation of the AS, DS and shadow fading of an MS is related to the velocity of the MS. In our proposed scheme, we use the AS, DS and shadow fading of an MS to estimate the velocity of the MS. Through analysis and numerical results, we show that we can accurately estimate the velocity.
