Abstract

A novel technique for mitigating optical beat interference(OBI) noise in optical multiple access uplink using same wavelength is presented. The OBI noise is estimated by similar-OBI and mitigated by subtracting estimated OBI noise using digital signal processing technique. An RF clipping tone is transmitted out of signal band to derive similar-OBI. We experimentally demonstrated the validity of proposed method in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing access(OFDMA) passive optical network(PON) link where OBI noise has been reduced and signal to noise ratio(SNR) has been improved.
