A scalable MAC for vehicular Ad hoc networks

Abstract

Scalability is a requirement for future MAC protocol over VANET. This paper proposes a scalable MAC protocol for VANET that efficiently responses to network density. Our scheme loosely combines TDMA and CSMA to mitigate contentions per unit time. The simulation results confirm the superiority of our protocol.
