Abstract

Recently, with the materialization of ubiquitous computing environment, families have begun using the latest electronic products. However, new technology is that there are increasing numbers of products which, while equipped with these advanced functions, fail to have those functions properly utilized because of the difficulties in operating them. Accordingly, one can suggest that having easy operation functions is an important factor for becoming a best seller. In this paper, an evaluation was carried out on the usability of Digital TV, which can be said to be a representative electronic product used at homes. To have a rational usability evaluation, an evaluation framework was developed by examining and analyzing existing researches and consumer characteristics. By using the results, a usability evaluation was carried out on 100 consumers concerning Digital TVs being sold in Korea, in order to verify its validity.
