Abstract
A wavelength and mode selective coupler (WMSC) was fabricated, by coupling hollow optical fiber (HOF) and standard single mode fiber (SMF). Optical power coupling characteristics were determined by the structure of the fused region composed of SMF and solid core segment of HOF. This compact and robust WMSC device was found to have a broad band of operation, low insertion loss, and high mode conversion efficiency. The proposed device could be used for applications in all optical inter-connections among fiber links.
