An efficient paging message scheme for vertical handoff decision in convergence of telecommunication and broadcasting

Abstract

The convergence network of telecommunication and broadcasting has issues about how to support a seamless mobility with VHO. In this paper, we propose a novel architecture for convergence network of UMTS and DVB-H. The proposed EPM Scheme for VHO decision support energy-efficient and seamless mobility. Our proposed EPM scheme switches the active network interface, after taking into consideration the buffer management of SGSN in UMTS and number of users in DVB-H. Simulation results show that the proposed EPM scheme is more efficient that other schemes(RSS and AAO) in terms of handoff delay and energy efficiency.
