Abstract

New and simple techniques are demonstrated to generate cold plasma inside the both rigid glass capillaries and flexible hollow optical fibers. The plasma jet is generated using helium as the operating gas and experiments are carried with different types of discharge setups under various electrode system configurations with the aim of the investigation an being an effective way to generate plasma. In addition, it is found that the emission spectra of the generated plasma is dominated by the presence of excited nitrogen, helium, and nitrogen ions.
