Breaking the two-fold degeneracy in eigen modes of a triangular-core hollow optical fiber

Abstract

A new micro-structured optical fiber is proposed and fabricated, which has a triangular core with a central air hole providing a unique 3-fold degeneracy of eigen-modes. The degeneracy evolution in the spectral domain was investigated.
