Nowadays, many 3D face data acquisition systems use active vision based system such as structured light system. One of main problem of this system is that the light pattern is very sensitive to environmental illumination variation. This variation degrades the accuracy of the obtained 3D face data. In this paper, we propose a new sequential color-coded pattern for robust 3D face data acquisition. The robustness for the illumination variation was compared with widely used binary pattern. The experimental results show that the robustness to the illumination variation was improved on various cases compare to binary pattern. Furtheremore, the time efliciencv of the suggested pattern was improved about 50% compare to binary pattern.
