Combustion synthesis of spinel LiMn2O4 cathode materials for lithium secondary batteries

Abstract

Spinel LiMn2O4 with size of 5μm and specific surface area of 1.39m2/g were synthesized by the combustion reaction of the urea mixture,LiOH.H2 and Mn(NO3)2.6H2O below 300°C. The electrochemical properties of the synthesized powders were comparable to LiMn2O4 synthesized by conventional method. The results showed that combustion process were considered as simple time and cost-effective process for preparing LiMn2O4 as cathode materials for lithium secondary batteries.
