Abstract
The performance degradation due to the channel estimation error in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based wireless local area network (WLAN) was discussed. The average effective signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and average bit error probabilities (BEP) were derived in a Rayleigh fading channel. The average BEP was approximated analytically under the assumption that the estimated channel response and the channel estimation error were almost uncorrelated when the channel estimation error was sufficiently small.
