Effective method for identifying dynamic characteristics of APR 1400 nuclear reactor internals in experiment and finite element analysis

Abstract

It is impossible that vibration experiments of large space structure as nuclear reactor is conducted for identifying dynamic characteristics. In order to overcome this limitation, in this research, scale-down model of APR1400 nuclear reactor is manufactured and modal experiments were performed. Simultaneously, finite element model has been constructed with using ANSYS for identifying dynamic characteristics. In this study, experimental method as sensor placement and tuning point in finite element model are introduced for extracting accurate dynamic characteristics. With the experiments and the finite element model of scale-down model through the methods, accurate dynamic characteristics of APR 1400 nuclear reactor were identified. All results of this study will be used to predict dynamic characteristics of real reactor with using similarity analysis. Finally, all results about dynamic characteristics of real reactor will be made use of seismic analysis which is conducted later.
