Abstract
The effects of strain rate of hot deformation on ferrite grain size in ultra-low carbon steel were studied. Microstructural changes in ferrite deformed under hot rolling at 870 °C were observed. Critical strains for dynamic recrystallization of austenite were calculated to analyze the effect of strain rate on phase transformation. The ferrite grain size decreased with decreasing strain rate and then increased with further decrease in strain rate for deformation around 864 °C.
