Abstract

Electrooptical (EO) performance of the vertical-alignment (VA)-1/4π cell photoaligned on a homeotropic photopolymer surfaces by polarized UV exposure was studied. Excellent voltage-transmittance (V-T) curves of the VA-1/4π cell photoaligned on the photopolymer containing a cholesteryl moiety of 8% were obtained by polarized UV exposure for 3 min. The V-T and response time characteristics can be improved by high the presence of a cholesteryl moiety in the photopolymer.
