N2 - A new tool for the high-throughput study of carbohydrate-protein interactions: Maleimide-linked carbohydrates (e.g. 1) were immobilized on thiol-derivatized glass slides, and the microspots were probed with fluorescein-labeled lectins (see picture). The binding of lectins to the carbohydrates on the slide depends on the concentration of the immobilized carbohydrates and on the length of the tethers.
