Abstract

This paper described the overall development process of WALDEN 2.0, a secondgeneration prototype of the Science Walden toilet, which was produced as part of the Science Walden project. The study used a phenomenological approach of design research methods and implemented the model through rapid prototyping. Through this process, the finished toilet has key features such as feces and urine-separating storage system, high level of watersaving system and sterilizing function of UV light. Lastly, this paper proposed algorithms of user health monitoring system as well as the analytical scope and effectiveness of the system by the experimentally performed urine analyzing function.
