Abstract

Objective. The purpose of this presentation is to illustrate the normal sonographic anatomy of the anterior neck region and the sonographic findings of various kinds of extrathyroid lesions. Methods. Cases of extrathyroid lesions were collected and reviewed retrospectively from our archives. All of the sonographic examinations were performed with high-frequency (5- to 15-MHz) linear array transducers. Results. The normal sonographic anatomy of the anterior neck region and various pathologic conditions of patients with extrathyroid lesions are discussed. Condusions. Sonography is a useful imaging method for evaluating anterior neck anatomy and various pathologic conditions in patients with extrathyroid lesions.
