Flexible control of geometrical birefringence in elliptical hollow optical fiber

Abstract

We fabricated and experimentally characterized an elliptical hollow optical fiber using a new deposition technique over a flat face silica substrate tube. The fiber provided an extremely high group birefringence of 2.35 × 10 -3 at 1550nm.
