Abstract

A motion estimation algorithm based on the hierarchical enhancement of motion parameters obtained by solving a planar motion model with two-dimensional block motion vectors is proposed. This algorithm is implemented as a part of a special effect system for commercially broadcast images. The technique in dividing the parameter error allows more accurate motion parameters to be obtained for the synthesis of panoramic images.
