Higher-order-mode dispersion compensation technique based on mode converter using hollow optical fiber

Abstract

Higher-order-mode (HOM) dispersion compensating technique based on mode converter was studied using hollow optical fiber. Design parameters of both the ring core dispersion compensating fiber (DCF) and the mating mode converter (MC) were also discussed. It was observed that MC shows the efficiency of more than 87% in conversion of the LP01 mode of SMF to the LP02 mode in a ring-core DCF.
