Highly-birefringent elliptical hollow optical fiber

Abstract

We propose and analyze a novel design of high birefringence fiber incorporating an elliptical air hole in the core. Compared to solid elliptical core fibers, several times higher birefringence is achieved with a sub-wavelength-sized hole.
