Abstract

This chapter introduces concepts and trends related to the development of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), which aid human drivers in collision avoidance. Some industrial developments and major functional blocks of ADASare also introduced. We have focused on the camera vision-based systems, which are very popular mainly because of theirlow development costs and very diverse potential applications. The system-on-chip (SoC) architecture and components ofautomobile vision systems are also presented.
