Investigation of dynamic characteristics of thermal assisted magnetic recording light delivery

Abstract

For realizing the areal density of beyond 5Tb/in2, thermal assisted magnetic recording (TAMR) is required. However, we should investigate and improve the dynamic characteristics of TAMR head gimbal assembly (HGA) for the reliability of the system. In this manuscript, we investigate the shock performance of the TAMR HGA and the mechanical characteristics related to the off-track direction. In addition, we analyze the thermal effect for TAMR HGA with optical block. And we discuss the improvement of dynamic characteristics of the proposed TAMR HGA.
