Investigation of particle generation in a head/slider disk interface during the start/stop period

Abstract

In this study, a number of particles was measured at the trailing edge of the slider during the start/stop period by condensation nucleation counter (CNC) with a sampling probe. The main observation was that most of the particles are generated whenever the drive started or stopped.
