Low-level enhanced surrounding adaptive tone mapping

Abstract

Proposed is a CIECAM02-based surrounding adaptive tone mapping (SATM) technique which especially enhances the low-level region of the image. To enhance it, the Ward tone mapping method is used, which uses a threshold against intensity (TVI) function. Only the TVI function for the rods is applied to the CIECAM02-based SATM to enhance the achromatic low-level region of the image. The performance is confirmed by performing a psychophysical experiment.
