Abstract

This article featured an investigation of recent trends in digital and experiential exhibitions to explain why the sensory experience strategy are appealing to audiences. Recent years have seen a great deal of museum construction, with many institutions - both public and private, established and upstart - spending, in total, hundreds of millions of dollars on new buildings and exhibitions, including the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris, Fondazione Prada in Milano, Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in Moscow and M+ in Hong Kong. The author aimed to explain why experiential and humanistic conceptions of time and space exhibitions are becoming so popular. Methods used in the present study included a literature review with case study of recent magazines and observations made during design-related museum exhibitions. This research finds that stimulating audiences’ senses creates a sense of enthusiasm among them and invites them to participate in interactive and emotional exchanges. These, in turn, can lead to fun elements and touching moments.
