Abstract

"Chemical Equation Presented" The desulfurization of meso-trithienylsubporphyrins leads to meso-trialkylsubporphyrins (see scheme). Oxidation at the benzylic position of the meso-alkyl substituent of 1 has been used to prepare a valeryl-substituted subporphyrin that exhibits highly perturbed optical and electrochemical properties compared to other subporphyrins.
