Abstract
When using mobile cloud computing, it is crucial to predict the power consumption of the mobile device since the mobile device should decide whether to proceed with cloud computing by considering energy gain. However, there is a lack of research that can help to easily predict the energy consumption due to signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) change of mobile devices for cloud computing. In this paper, the minimum SNR requirement for cloud computing will be presented in a closed-form by using Amdahl's law and Shannon-Hartley theorem. The minimum SNR requirement will be derived with respect to energy and time.
