N2 - We study the distribution function of the (Formula presented) quark for inclusive semileptonic (Formula presented) decays in the framework of the parton model. We compare the functional behavior of the fragmentation inspired function and the Gaussian Altarelli-Cabibbo-Corbo-Maiani-Martinelli function, and discuss their validity. Using the heavy quark effective theory parameters, we can critically test these models.
