Abstract
The four-pass amplifier introduced by Lee and Hahn is capable of suppressing self-oscillation generated by the laser beam traveling through the same big amplified spontaneous emission (ASE). In fact Lee and Hahn reported that the ASE portion reached to 15% in normal operation. A new design of a four-pass ASE suppressing the generation of amplified during the amplifying process is introduced. The detailed operation characteristics of the new four-pass amplifier are discussed.
