Nonlinear distortion suppression in dual parallel analog modulation of DFB-LD

Abstract

A novel linearization method of a DFB-LD using the dual-parallel scheme is proposed. This scheme consists of two DFB-LDs with different wavelengths and an optical combiner. By controlling only the bias current of LDs, the intermodulation distortion can be suppressed. IMD3 suppression of more than 15 dB was experimentally obtained.
