Abstract
In this paper, a novel iterative equalization is proposed. Different from the existing turbo-like equalization, the proposed one uses an energy spreading transform (EST) instead of a (soft) channel decoder, which separates equalization and decoding. The complexity of the proposed equalization approach is comparable to that of decision-feedback equalization (DFE). However, analytical and simulation results demonstrate that its performance is very close to the matched filter bound (MFB) when the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is above a threshold.
