Abstract
In this paper, we propose a new video quality measurement method which is based on several degradation factors. The proposed method assumes that reference videos are available. In the proposed algorithm, the VQM (Video Quality Metric) is calculated as a weighted sum of seven features which represent sources of various video degradations. In particular, the degradation factors include PSNR in the lowest frequency band of the wavelet transform, PSNR in edge areas, edge error ratio, degradation ratio of edge images, a blocking coefficient, PSNR in visible chrominance signals and a contrast attenuation ratio. Experimental results show that the proposed method consistently provides satisfactory performances.
