Abstract
The uncertainty of the risk of failure of flood related hydraulic structures is determined by estimating the variance of the risk of failure assuming that the underlying model is Gumbel and the method of moments estimation. It is shown that the coefficient of variation of the risk of failure may be significant even for long sample sizes.
