N2 - Motion blurring has become a major problem in modern LCD monitors. Therefore, accurate and robust motion blur measurement is important. Among many motion blur measurement methods, the average BET (blur edge time) has been widely used. However, some recent displays, which use local dimming, do not produce any noticeable motion blurring, even though they have high BET values. In this paper, we investigated the cause of this problem and proposed a new motion blur measurement method. Subjective tests using a number of TV monitors showed that the proposed method showed better performance than the conventional BET method.
