N2 - Face detection is one of the important issues in Human Computer Interaction (HCI). In face detection, Local Binary Pattern (LBP) feature is popularly used because of its invariant for rotation and lighting condition. In this paper, we propose part-based face detection method using Skin-Color LBP (SLBP). The proposed feature SLBP shows better performance than LBP because it contains not only appearance information but also color information. And we enhance detection process by limiting face search area based on head-shoulder detection results. Experiments are performed with INIRA dataset.
