Photo-thermal therapeutics control technique using terahertz waves

Abstract

We present a photo-thermal therapeutics control technique using terahertz (THz) imaging technology and an optical beam intensity modulation method. The heat induced in nanoparticle probes under irradiation by a near-infrared beam was monitored using a THz imaging system and was fixed by adjusting the illumination time of the optical beam. The THz-monitored optical beam modulation technique allowed the viability of cells to be controlled.
