Abstract

Thermochromic microcapsules with two kinds of phase change materials that can change color with gradient under 70 °C were prepared. To induce gradient color change in the thermochromic microcapsules, two phase change materials containing polyurea microcapsules in the core were prepared by simply mixing two different melting points and dye. The color change displayed a gradient from dark to light blue due to the difference in melting point in the two phase transition materials. The microcapsules prepared in this study were made from a display that showed characters by coloring and decoloring two colors by inculcating a substance that is melts at 21 °C and 53 °C. In addition, the thermochromic microcapsules designed in this study showed potential future application for color convertible smart windows.
