Probing gluon and charm densities using W and Z hadroproduction at large pT

Abstract

We show that the associated production of a W boson and a charm quark in high-energy pp or pp collisions provides a measure of the gluon distribution (at MWs). Comparison with associated Zc production gives a determination of the ratio of the charm- to the strange-quark density distributions.
