Reliability comparison of various regenerating codes for cloud services

Abstract

In this paper, we consider the reliability comparison of various regenerating codes for cloud services. By simulations, we compare the performance of such regenerating codes as MBR codes, MSR codes, local reconstruction codes, and LT regenerating codes, in terms of storage overhead, repair read cost, and repair failure probability. We give some discussions on what must be done in the near future.
