Representing the semantics of virtual spaces

Abstract

The study focused on semantically organized virtual spaces, particularly on how such spatial organization shapes users' cognition, interpretation, and interaction. The design and use of the StarWalker virtual environment illustrate the novel approach to knowledge-based media space modeling. StarWalker's design also illustrates the potential of unifying spatial models, semantic structures, and social navigation metaphors on the development of multiuser virtual environments.
