Self optimization of the position of quantized mode-locked pulses in a figure-eight fiber laser

Abstract

Self-optimized position of quantized pulses in figure-eight laser was discussed. A dispersion-imbalanced nonlinear optical loop mirror with lumped dispersive elements was used to produce different types of optical pulses. An optical band pass filter in the laser cavity was used for the purpose. The position of harmonic pulses were found to be arranged to its optimum positions on application of an external perturbation such as pump power variation to the system.
