Spectral efficiency enhancement in SNR-limited PON system based on SSB 3D modulation

Abstract

We propose a single sideband three-dimensional modulation technique for a passive optical network which has an insufficient signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). We demonstrated a SE improvement of 1.65 times with 3dB lower SNR compared to a conventional quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) signal.
