Abstract
A review of past and recent literature was conducted to assess the feasibility of online cognitive apprenticeships. The main phases of a cognitive apprenticeship were reviewed, and strategies were proposed for implementation of each phase in an online environment based on findings in the literature review. It was determined that cognitive apprenticeships in higher education can be successfully managed via online learning given careful design and implementation considerations. This literature review covers common strategies to ensure successful implementation of an online cognitive apprenticeship as well as considerations for designers and instructors during course development in management, leadership, and business teaching.
