Abstract

The synthesis of the title compound a key intermediate for the synthesis of other DHL derivatives, is reported. The aldehyde 1 and the diol 9 were tested on several enzymes involved in the cholesterol biosynthetic pathway. Aldehyde 1 showed an inhibitory effect IC50 = 90 μM on sterol 14-reductase.
