Abstract

On a higher plane: The combination of theoretical and experimental methods has been used to predict, produce, and detect systems with the highest coordination numbers so far known in planar clusters. With these planar MB 10 - wheels (M=Nb, Ta; see picture), the world record for the highest coordination number is now set at ten.
