Wide viewing angle of nematic liquid crystal using the vertical-alignment-1/6π cell on a rubbed polyimide surfaces

Abstract

The wide viewing angle characteristics of negative dielectric anisotropy nematic liquid crystal (NLC) using the vertical-alignment (VA)-1/6π cell on a homeotropic rubbed polyimide (PI) surface were investigated. Good voltage-transmittance characteristics using the VA-1/6π cell without a negative compensation films were obtained. The isoviewing angle characteristics using the VA-1/6π cell without a negative compensation film can be achieved.
